EAGLESHAM AMATEURS FOOTBALL CLUB

Earlier this year you kindly awarded Eaglesham Amateurs Football Club £5,000 towards the purchase of essential equipment. On behalf of the club committee and members I write to give you an update on the immediate benefits this money has brought to the club.

You may be aware that the local Burnside pitch had been continually waterlogged and only a couple of games were played there last season. To ensure we fulfilled our fixtures for both teams and to ensure players stayed with the club, we had to hire astro-grass pitches at Toryglen at significant additional cost paid for from the award. I am pleased to say the Council have now carried out drainage work at the Burnside and we are now back playing at our home pitch which allows the community to watch both teams and also boost trade for a local business (The Eglinton Arms Hotel) after matches.

In addition, we also managed to replace much of our tired training equipment and purchased a set of goals and nets which the players are really appreciating during training.

Last season started as a real challenge mainly due the condition of our pitch but with the aid of this award to help fund additional costs it turned into a very successful season. In a year when we celebrated our 90th year, the First team won the league cup and the Second team won promotion. We now look forward with some optimism to this season being better equipped and being able to play regularly at the Burnside.

I enclose a few pictures which show the players using some of the new equipment and goals, and also the league cup winning team.

Yours in Sport

15TH GLASGOW SCOUT GROUP

The 15th Eaglesham Scout Group can not thank you enough for the grant you awarded to us.
We were very busy at the beginning purchasing all the equipment and now have used it all in the hall, at camps & with the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
In the hall we have been able to add more games equipment, New chairs and tables for all the sections to use and for Camp we were able to purchase all the equipment we needed for a  new patrol, enabling us to take 6 more scouts to camp in  May and in the future.
For the Duke of Edinburgh Award we were able to purchase some  new light weigh tents for the Explorers to carry, also a satellite system which enables the leaders in charge of expedition to track the Explorers ( this is most important in the gold as they are out in wild country most of the time)

With our numbers in the group continuing to grow we are always in need of new equipment and it is so well used.

Thank you again for awarding us the grant.
